Super easy to get started

My friend told me about Simply Guitar. I just downloaded the app and got the monthly subscription. It was so easy to jump right in. The 5-minute workouts are cool for quick practice. I'm learning chords way faster than I thought I would. It's just a chill way to learn an instrument, no stress.

Mostly good, one small issue

I got the Simply Piano annual membership. The interactive courses are really helpful, and I like the variety from pop songs to classical. Delivery, well, it's an app so that was instant. Customer service was quick when I had a question about setting up my MIDI cable. My only small gripe is sometimes the app mishears a note, which can be a bit frustrating when you know you played it right. Overall though, it's a very good learning tool.

Good value for annual plan

I was looking for a piano learning app and Simply Piano kept popping up. I checked out their annual subscription since it had a pretty good discount compared to paying monthly. The 7-day free trial let me test it out and see if I liked it before committing. It felt like a solid investment for the price, especially with all the lessons included. Definitely felt worth it for a beginner like me.

Always reliable, just works

I've been using Simply Piano for a couple of years now. Started with piano, then got the family plan so my kid could use Simply Guitar. This latest renewal was smooth, just like all the others. The content updates keep things fresh, and it's always consistent. No issues, no surprises. That's why I keep coming back.

how long do those free trials usually last for new users? tryna see if i can get a good feel for it before committing to a full year.

A Andrew Davis 1 month ago
I got a 7-day one when I first signed up, which was enough to see if I liked it. Think some people get 30 days sometimes too, depends on current offers maybe.

Most common is 7 days, but I've seen 30-day premium trials pop up. Just check their site when you're signing up.

Does Simply Piano teach music theory or is it just like, playing songs by rote?

C Carol Davis 4 days ago
Nah, it actually teaches theory! Like, it explains scales and chords and stuff, not just 'play this note'. It's pretty good for beginners.

M Mary Allen 4 days ago
Yeah, it has sections dedicated to music theory. Not super in-depth like a college course, but enough to understand what you're doing.

Is it worth getting the family plan? We have two kids who wanna learn piano and I'm kinda interested in guitar.

J Josh 3 weeks ago
Definitely. The family plan is usually a good chunk cheaper than paying for multiple individual subs. Plus, you can all use different apps with it, so piano for them and guitar for you.

Yeah, if more than one person is gonna use it, the family plan is the way to go. Saves some cash.

How does this compare to Yousician? Used that for a bit but felt kinda limited.

A Alex C. 4 weeks ago
I actually switched from Yousician to Simply Piano. For piano, I found Simply Piano's courses more structured and engaging. Yousician felt a bit more game-y and less about actual learning for me.

I've used both. Simply Piano definitely feels more like a proper lesson plan, especially for total beginners. Yousician is good too but I prefer Simply for piano specifically.

hey, was thinking about trying this out. i've got a super old yamaha keyboard, like ancient. will simply piano even pick up the notes?

M Mary Nguyen 2 weeks ago
Yeah, it should! Mine's pretty old too and it just uses the mic on my phone/tablet to hear what I'm playing. Works fine.

AFAIK, it works with most pianos/keyboards by listening to the sound. You don't usually need any special cables or anything. Unless it's like, a super quiet keyboard or something.

I'm a student, are there any discounts for us or should I just look for a normal annual deal?

M Mary Rivera 1 month ago
I think they do have student discounts sometimes, but it's not always super obvious on the site. Might be worth checking their FAQ or just going for an annual plan, those are usually discounted anyway.

They've had student offers in the past, but I'd compare it to the annual subscription discount. Sometimes the yearly deal is better than a specific student one anyway.
